Profile and terminology

An elliptical head has an elliptical crown joined to a straight flange. This profile is used as an end closure in boiler and pressure vessel designs. Ellipsoidal head is another common name for this shape.

GB/T 25198-2023 models: EHA / EHB

EHA specifies the inside diameter; EHB specifies the outside diameter. The GB/T 25198-2023 profiles shown in our inquiry tool use a 2:1 elliptical relationship. State which diameter basis your drawing uses before comparing dimensions.

What to include in your inquiry

Diameter and its inside or outside basis; nominal thickness; minimum thickness after forming if specified; straight flange length; overall depth; material grade; quantity.

Use millimetres for dimensions. Identify the exact material grade rather than only writing “steel” or “stainless steel”. You can also include edge preparation, inspection requirements, delivery needs and a drawing reference in the notes.
