Profile and terminology

A torispherical head combines a spherical crown, a rounded knuckle and a straight flange. It is also described as a flanged and dished head. The crown radius and knuckle radius are important parts of the profile definition.

GB/T 25198-2023 models: THA / THB

THA uses the inside diameter and THB uses the outside diameter in this GB/T 25198-2023 inquiry tool. The phrase dished head can refer to several profiles: include your standard and drawing rather than ordering by the common name alone. Do not assume that a profile under another standard has the same radii.

What to include in your inquiry

Diameter basis; crown radius; knuckle radius; straight flange length; depth; nominal and minimum formed thickness; material grade; quantity.

Use millimetres for dimensions. Identify the exact material grade rather than only writing “steel” or “stainless steel”. You can also include edge preparation, inspection requirements, delivery needs and a drawing reference in the notes.

Configure torispherical heads

The configurator creates an inquiry list. The email button opens your mail application; it does not submit an order or send a message automatically.

Drawing and design review

These descriptions identify geometry and information needed for an inquiry. They do not establish allowable pressure, certify compliance or replace a vessel design calculation. Confirm the applicable standard, drawing and final dimensions before ordering.
